The Indian Premier League Governing Council announced the schedule for the first phase of the 2014 IPL 7 season that will be held in the UAE from April 16 to 30. IPL 7 starts with the defending champions Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 16 in Abu Dhabi at 8 p.m. IST.
Twenty matches will be played in three stadiums in the UAE - Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi; Sharjah CA Stadium and Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The BCCI had earlier announced that the first phase of IPL 7 will be played in the UAE from April 16-30, followed by the second phase from May 1 to 12 in either Bangladesh or India. The season will end with the final phase in India from May 13. The final will be played on June 1.IPL Council decided that there is no matches will not be scheduled on May 16,because the counting day for the General Elections.
